Dr. Val's Rejuvenating Smoothie

2 Bananas (the riper, the sweeter)

2-3 cups of berries (use a variety – blueberries, raspberries, strawberries - frozen) Organic if you can, if not, Sam’s has something called Triple Berry Blend. – you can thaw them out the day before. Frozen or fresh cherries are also good.

1/4 of a fresh lemon, including the skin

1 cup reverse osmosis water

1/2 cup organic milk, or coconut milk** coconut milk has more health benefits, especially nourishing for the thyroid, but a little harder to find.

1 tsp coconut oil and/or 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil

1 scoop of protein powder or 1 cup of plain yogurt – need to watch whey protein powder as many of them have Sucralose in them, which you do not want. We found a hemp powder that does not have any bad additives. We typically carry the hemp powder in our office.

2 t. Greens Veggie powder – (we carry at the office)

2 cups of organic lettuce, organic spinach or (not iceberg) – the darker the color, the more nutrients in the food. I add chia seeds (1oz).

Blend in the blender for 1-2 minutes

This is approximately 8-9 servings of fruits and veggies per day. Sometimes I will make this recipe and drink ½ of it and freeze the other half and the next day, eat the frozen half as a frozen treat. If you have cancer or another serious disease, I want you to drink the whole thing in a day – you can still freeze ½ of it and eat it later in the day. If you have a serious disease, I may also ask you to add some other things.

**Feel free to use variety with the fruits, as long as they are not canned fruits. Do the berries at least every other day for the anti-oxidants that they contain** Some yogurts tend to be high in sugar (ideally, total white sugar for the day should be no more than 25 grams – please EXCLUDE high fructose corn syrup)

Remember that the artificial sweeteners have been traced to brain tumors, so please avoid them) Sugar feeds cancer, so limit sugar and white processed breads.
